The Fireside Bowl Project was made by Rebar A. Rakstad (Rar Rar Press) as their MFA thesis, Columbia College Chicago, Interdisciplinary Book and Paper, 2008. The installation included letterpress printed posters made with handset wood and metal type on a Vandercook Universal 4 manual printing press. Each poster pulled text from collected stories about the Fireside Bowl. Rebar's photography and collected ephemera was also included in the exhibit.
The project continues in 2025: Rakstad is working on a book covering a collective history of the Fireside. Get in touch and share your story now.
